situation (situation)
For all intents and purposes, Chase Lackey seems like a normal, generous, all-around good guy. He is described as outgoing, friendly and very close to his close family. According to his Facebook page, he was working as an ironworks worker for a local company at the time of his disappearance. At home, he was a loving owner of a small white dog named “Chase,” with whom he enjoyed playing. He once even joked online that he planned to arrange a “father/son photoshoot” for the two. His social media is a neat mix of jokes and humor along with inspirational and motivational comments, and is filled with sports videos, car photos, and sharing of Champ's latest adventures.
Chase was athletic and especially passionate about baseball, and on June 30, she played softball in a local recreational league in Crosby, a town northeast of Houston where she once attended high school. His father was at the event watching Chase and he didn't notice anything unusual or inappropriate. Chase felt good and decided to talk to his father again soon.
A few days later, Chase was spotted outside his apartment complex by an old acquaintance walking on Champ near Wallisville Road and Beltway 8. They were walking along East Sam Houston Parkway, but it's unclear which direction they were going. This was the last time I saw or heard from Chase or the little dog.
The place where he disappeared is not far from Gene Green Dog Park, and I wonder if he was on his way there. He reportedly left the dog running around, but it's unclear whether it was at the apartment complex or at the park. If so, visitors to the park may have seen something and may be asked to recall that time.
His truck remained where he had parked nearby, and nothing appeared to have been removed from his apartment. There is no evidence that he had packed his bags or planned to leave for any time. It is unclear whether police were able to retrieve information from his cell phone or bank account. He reportedly left his wallet, keys and cell phone in the apartment, and there was no evidence of forced entry or anyone else inside.
Police believe Chase's disappearance may have been the result of foul play. There are questions regarding some of his known friends and acquaintances who were later found to have been involved in illegal activities. Police theorize that this may have put him in danger.
