Camille Kostek is back on the pages and covers of Sports Illustrated Swimming!
“Extra's” Mona Kosar Abdi spoke with Camille about being a part of SI Swimsuit's 60th Anniversary Issue, her boyfriend Rob Gronkowski, and the Netflix roast of Tom Brady.
Camille said, “They had their own behind-the-scenes locker room story, so they knew they were broadcasting it live to millions of people watching at home… Think of these jokes being ripped off and going a little off-script.”
That Rob definitely went off script! “There were a lot of times I heard her practice and thought, ‘That’s not right,’ but after she made that joke, she said, ‘I just came up with that,’” she said. Right now.'”
Gronk didn't feel uncomfortable even though he had a few hits on him. Camille emphasized that one of Rob's dreams is to “go play with his boys and make fun of each other so everyone can laugh.”
She added, “I don't know if he'll randomly call me or I'll call him. I'll get a call within the week and I'm already laughing. I'm like, 'What's so funny? Who is he with? What are he doing?' What's going on?” ?' And he said, 'No, Camille, I'm still laughing at the jokes they told me.'
Funny things aside, Kostek was “overjoyed” to be called back for Sports Illustrated Swimming's 60th Anniversary issue, which was her seventh consecutive shoot for the magazine.
It was “emotional” for Camille to be included in the new Legends class alongside women she idolized, such as Paulina Porizkova and Tyra Banks. “I called her mom and her mom couldn’t believe it,” she said. She was just as awestruck as I was and we were both very moved. I immediately recalled the moment when she reminded me of her and she sat me down and we watched her TV special for her 50th anniversary with her. “Legend class.”
“This is such a perfect moment,” she thought.
About the shoot itself, Camille said, “Seeing the women working before my eyes was beyond awe-inspiring. You can feel their presence. “I feel like I can feel their energy.”
Camille said she actually got emotional seeing Paulina. She recalled, “Her essence and her movements were so powerful and so beautiful that I started crying, and it reminded me of how I felt when I opened the magazine when I was 15.”
Camille also opened up about how Gronk reacted to her latest cover, as well as their relationship and what brought them closer.
Camille said she laid out the magazines for Rob to look at when he came home. She joked, “I feel like every year he gets less excited because he's like, 'I know you're in the magazine and there's a picture of you. I see that all the time.'”
She continued, “And he said, ‘I think that’s good, Camille.’” We filmed it at night and it looked like a flash had been set off in a swimming pool. He said, ‘This is something we’ve never done before,’ and I said, ‘Be careful.’ He said, ‘It’s really cool we didn’t film on the beach this year.’”
Kostek revealed that Gronkowski would go to great lengths to attend the big launch party. “He had an event in Atlanta that ended at 7 o’clock and he said, ‘I’m going to have to get in the helicopter.’” I’m going to land, and I’m going to rush to your venue.’”
“He knows the games I’ve made by running out on the field myself, and it’s great to show him the same struggle for something that’s important to me,” she said.
Camille recently opened up about their ups and downs, which has brought them closer. She said: “Communication is very important and that is what I have learned over the years… “There are ways to be polite or very proactive in a way that allows someone to listen, talk to you, and feel a lot,” he emphasized. Better.”
Kostek said of his efforts not to internalize things: “I spoke openly with Rob about anything and tried to resolve issues if anyone was frustrated. Don't lock it in, let it out. I think that brings us much closer.”
