After Iowa Hawkeyes player Caitlin Clark joked about retiring his jersey for the apron, Michael Che got grilled by none other than Clark during the “Weekend Update” segment of “SNL” this week.
Che began by saying, “The University of Iowa announces that Caitlin Clark will be retiring her uniform.” He smirked and added, “And change into her apron.” The crowd didn't like the joke and Che jokingly said, “Wow!” Well, the WNBA draft is this Monday, and Iowa star Kaitlyn Clark is expected to be the top pick. Commenting here is Caitlin Clark.”
To thunderous applause and cheers, Clark appeared at the Weekend Update desk smiling. She and her body sat waiting for her harsh applause to die down before she started grilling her body about his jokes about her. “me is By the way, Caitlin the fan.” Che said.
Clark, questioning his fan loyalty, asked, “Really, Michael? “I heard your apron joke.”
Clark said, shooting back. “You make a lot of jokes about women’s sports, right, Michael?” Mr. Che responded that he would not classify it as ‘a lot’ but that it is not ‘irregular’. A little tidbit from co-host Colin Jost: Che plays a supercut of various “Weekend Update” clips tapping women's sports, joking about bars that show women's sports in one segment, saying they're “known collectively as empty bars.” .” In another post, he joked that the WNBA was a malfunction created by artificial intelligence.
Clark, considered one of the greatest college players of all time, expressed his gratitude to Colin. “Wow, Colin with the receipt. thank you.” Jost added, “Unlike Che, I support women.”
In response to the many jabs Che had made at women's basketball, Clark showed up with a collection of jokes for Che to read.
Che smirked and hesitantly said with Clark: “The Indiana Fever has the first pick in this Monday’s draft. A reminder that the Indiana Fever is a WNBA team, not the team Michael Che gave to dozens of women at Purdue University.”
Continuing to read the joke, Che says: “Netflix's new best show is 'Ripley,' featuring a chilling, unsettling performance from Andrew Scott. Critics say, ‘This is the hardest work to watch on Netflix since Michael Che’s special ‘Shameless.’” Che delivers the line, making people laugh. “How about that?” Clark said with a satisfied smile.
After all was said and done, Clark brought Che one last callback souvenir. “Because you’re such a big fan… this is my signed apron.”
