Is the stock market open today? BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will conduct special trading sessions for equity and equity derivatives segments on Saturday. There will be two sessions. The first session will be held from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM at the Primary Site (PR) and the second session will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Disaster Recovery (DR) site.
This session is being held to check the stock exchange's readiness to deal with a major disruption to its primary site. Special live trading sessions will switch from the PR site to the DR site throughout the day.
The maximum price range for all securities, including those for which derivatives are offered during the special session, is 5%. Securities already in the 2% or lower price range will continue to be available at that price range.
“The Exchange will conduct a special live trading session in the Equities and Equity Derivatives segment on Saturday 2024 with same-day transition from the primary site to the disaster recovery site,” the exchange stated in a separate circular. Earlier, NSE and BSE held similar trading sessions on March 2.
The session will be a specific meeting with market regulator Sebi and the Technical Advisory Committee to assess the readiness of market infrastructure entities such as exchanges to deal with unexpected events affecting their operations and restore operations at DR sites within the stipulated time frame. It progresses based on discussion. . Transitioning to a DR site is typically done to ensure business continuity in the event of a major outage or failure of the primary site.
