An internal investigation by the Connecticut State Police found that four troopers entered hundreds of fake tickets into the agency's records system in 2018 to increase productivity. Investigators found that the officers' actions were likely felonies, but did not notify prosecutors of their findings. State Attorney Patrick Griffin said he only learned about the scheme in late 2022, years after the investigation and when local newspapers began asking about it. Griffin said he was investigating the crime at the time, but the statute of limitations recently expired and he would not file charges against the troopers. Two of the troopers were discharged without punishment and each receives nearly $70,000 in annual pensions. The other two received brief suspensions – one for 10 days and the other for two days – before being transferred to new units.
