PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a 26-year-old man while searching for his missing girlfriend, who was later found dead.
According to Plain Township Commissioner Brooke Harless, 24-year-old Rachel Sheridan, believed to be pregnant, was reported missing on Monday, July 1, after she failed to show up for work. The Stark County Sheriff's Office checked on Sheridan the next day but was unable to locate her.
In a news conference reported by WEWS-TV, Stark County Sheriff Georgia Meyer said the apartment door was open and investigators found evidence of a crime.
Deputies found Sheridan's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, where they allegedly saw the victim's live-in boyfriend, Sean Goe, driving the vehicle. At the time, Goe had active warrants for robbery, grand theft of a firearm, and domestic violence related to Sheridan.
Goh reportedly fled on foot into a wooded area. Canton police eventually arrested Goh at a homeless shelter on Wednesday, July 3, according to Maier.
On the day Goe was arrested, Maier said Canton sanitation workers also found Sheridan's body. Investigators suspect she was murdered in the apartment, but have not said how she died.
