Update – 6:08 a.m. PT; June 9: Michael Mosley's wife has issued a statement paying tribute to her TV presenter husband after his body was found on the Greek island of Simi.
“I’m not sure where to start with this. It is devastating to lose my wonderful, funny, kind, and intelligent husband, Michael. We have had an incredibly fortunate life together,” said Clare Bailey Mosley. “We loved each other so much and were so happy to be together. I am incredibly proud of the resilience and support our children have shown over the past few days.
“My family and I have received great comfort from the outpouring of love from people around the world. It is clear that Michael meant a tremendous amount to many of you. We take comfort in the fact that he almost succeeded. He made an incredible climb, took a wrong turn, and fell in a place where a large search team couldn't easily see him.
“Michael was an adventurous man. That was one of the things that made him special. We are so grateful to Symi's special people who worked tirelessly to find him. Some of the people on the island had never even heard of Michael, and he worked from dawn to dusk without being asked. We are also deeply grateful to the media outlets for treating us with great respect.
“I feel so lucky to have such amazing friends with my kids. Above all, I feel so lucky to be able to live this life with Michael. Thank you everyone.”
