A pack of four black bears were spotted having fun at Woburn Safari Park after rain created a small lake in the reserve, according to photos released by the Bedfordshire-based park.
After seeing the lake, the wandering black bears decided to have some fun riding the floating swan pedals.
that much sky news The bears were immediately “intrigued by their new neighbors and wasted no time in investigating them,” said Tommy Babington, deputy director of the park's carnivore department in Bedfordshire.
“The pedals are typically used elsewhere on site, but we’ve been waiting for new pedals,” Babington said.
“It’s great fun to see visitors boarding the boats and we love coming up with new ways to provide food, scents and habitat enrichment that stimulate natural foraging activities,” he said.
“Bears are very curious animals by nature and keepers will encourage this through all kinds of enrichment through the habitat as it keeps their mind and body active,” he added. “Swan boat enrichment may be a less traditional approach to pique the curiosity of bears. It was a natural behavior, but it was definitely a hit.”
The four black bears are native to North America. They can grow up to 2m in length and weigh over 250kg.
