President Joe Biden has shattered concerns about age by laying out a vision for a vibrant, passionate and powerful America.
Biden criticized Trump for Russia.
What makes our moment rare is that freedom and democracy are simultaneously under attack at home and abroad. Abroad, Russian President Putin has invaded Ukraine and is causing chaos across Europe and beyond. If anyone in this room thinks President Putin is going to stop at Ukraine, I assure you he won't.

But Ukraine can stop President Putin if we stand with Ukraine and provide it with the weapons it needs to defend itself. That's all Ukraine asks. They are not asking for American troops. In fact, there are no U.S. troops participating in the war in Ukraine. And I was determined to keep it that way.
But now support for Ukraine is being blocked by those who want us to step down from world leadership. Republican President Ronald Reagan was referred to as “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” Now my predecessor, a former Republican president, tells Putin, “Do whatever you want.” In fact, a former U.S. president once said this while bowing to the Russian leader. It's absurd. It's dangerous. That is unacceptable.
Those who expected a policy-focused speech got the opposite.
They got a President Biden who is firm, defiant and in complete control of the State of the Union address. Biden contrasted himself with Trump as he spoke about what he has done during his term and the future of America.
America's oldest president is also one of its most visionary.
Biden's optimism shined through and he wore his love and pride for his country on his sleeve.
The speech was a home run because the president seemed fit for re-election.
