New York Times: “Bernie Moreno, the Republican running under the banner of Donald Trump's populist political movement and challenging Sen. Sherrod Brown, humbly calls himself a “car guy from Cleveland,” recalling his immigrant family's childhood beginnings. It talks about a simple situation. In America, we started all over again.”
Moreno said: “We came here with nothing. We came here legally, but there were nine of us in a two-bedroom apartment.”
“But there is much more that Mr. Moreno has not told us about his background, his upbringing, and his current, very strong ties to the country of his birth.”
“Mr. Moreno was born into a wealthy and politically connected family in Bogotá. Bogotá is a city that has never completely outgrown its ranks and some of its members continue to enjoy great wealth and status.”
