The BBC has announced an upcoming four-part series. reunionLed by Matthew Gurney (give me a name, infinite in the theater).
Lara Peak (how to have sex), Anne-Marie Duff (bad sisters, salisbury poisoning), Eddie Marsan (back to black, Ray Donovan) and Rose Ayling-Ellis (rocket summer, whatever you like it) will also star in the thriller produced by Warp Films for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Filming began this week, focusing on Sheffield, England.
Written by Sheffield-born deaf creator William Mager. reunion “An emotional thriller of revenge and redemption that follows the journey of Daniel Brennan, a deaf man determined to right his wrongs while uncovering the truth behind the events that landed him in prison.”
The series marks a milestone in inclusive storytelling, with most of the cast and crew being deaf or using British Sign Language (BSL). Strictly Come Dancing Winner Ayling-Ellis.
Gurney leads the cast as recently released convict Daniel Brennan. Brennan “embodies the struggle of a man caught between two worlds, unable to fully integrate into the hearing world, and shunned by his closest friends and the wider deaf community after his heinous crimes.”
His only meaningful relationship is with his estranged daughter Carly (played by Peake). He has had no contact since his arrest 10 years ago.
Duff plays Christine, who is desperately trying to find Brennan and uncover the truth of what she did, Marsan plays Christine's protective boyfriend Stephen Renworth, and Eiling-Ellis plays her daughter Miri. I took charge.
