A 2022 study by the Rand Corporation found that nearly every school district in the U.S. has had to consolidate or cancel classes or ask teachers to take on extra work due to a national teacher shortage.
The United States has struggled with workforce shortages for decades, but the pandemic has made the problem worse, with teachers citing online teaching and disruptive student behavior as reasons for leaving the profession, according to the Learning Policy Institute.
This has led some states, like California, to relax requirements for aspiring teachers and step up recruitment efforts to get teachers into the classroom.

What is a Reddit AMA?
AMA, short for “Ask Me Anything,” is a crowdsourced interview. Interviewees begin the process by starting a post explaining who they are and what they do. Commenters on the Internet can then leave questions and vote on other questions they would like to see answered.
Interviewees can review and answer questions they find interesting, and can easily view the questions they want answered on the Internet. Because the Internet asks questions, there will be a mix of seriousness and lightheartedness, and interviewees will end up sharing all kinds of things you wouldn't find in a typical interview.
