The author, who wishes to remain anonymous, describes himself as “an Asbury Park community member hoping to improve the area.” Opinions are his own..
Ed. memo: Tonight the Asbury Park Board of Education will hold its monthly public meeting. This submission from Asbury Park Insider focuses on the meeting agenda as well as the highly publicized political machinations surrounding the firing of Superintendent Rashawn Adams..
Asbury Park BOE and new state monitor Mr. Let's see if Ronald Fisher approves. [Superintendent] Adams' plan for our school district has nothing to do with our children. But only 4% of third graders can read and it all has to do with his best friends.
- Revised Position and Description by LaShawn Gibson, Director of Human Resources “Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Daily Operations.”
The school board previously voted this down, but Gibson Still, that's a pay raise of about $16,000!!!
If the board approves this item, LaShawn Gibson could become interim superintendent. [when Adams leaves]. That would be a big mistake because she belittles and threatens her managers and employees and she believes she is untouchable. adams I hired her and I am her friend!

- New job description: “Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board approves the new job description to create the jobs approved on March 23, 2023, listed below.”
all. 1501 high school principal
rain. 1612. Director of Special Services
Seed. 1620. Director of Curriculum and Instruction
d. 5033. Confidential Data and Communications Systems Administrator
what's the matter?
High School Principal Bridget O'Neill was hired by Adams and is a friend of BOE member Barbara Lesinski!
Special Services Director Bonnie Lau has been hired by Adams!
Curriculum director Edwin Ruiz has been hired. [former AP superintendent Lamont] Ripolet!
Data manager Paul Savoia was hired by Adams.
The only reason to edit a job description is if you want to add money to the position. However, Asbury Park School District I have no money So we shouldn't change positions!!!! All these changes just make it top-heavy and waste money that should be spent teaching students. basic skills!!! Don't line your pockets or promote yourself! Just get out!!!! We don't need you, your bloated titles, or your pay raises!!! We need to focus on our children and staff!
Some teachers can't do that either. Two teachers at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School are forcing teachers to sign a petition to promote Principal Lauren Schulze. Instead of teaching English language learners, these teachers walk around the building and, as the teachers say, “they stand there and sin against you. [into signing].” “They’ve never seen the kids and they’re all over the building,” one teacher said. If you support the principal, you won't have to take elementary school students to teach! Much like what Schultze did when he was a teacher at Marshall. These are the same idiots who bought the stocks [former superintendents] Sancha Gray, Repollet and the rest of the cast of characters from Central Office.
There is also a rumor campaign going on. [Administrator/former Athletic Director Mark] Gerbino doesn't look good. One teacher said the Gerbino rumor was started by Schultze. [principal of Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School Perry] Medina. One teacher said: “Everyone in the area knows that Adams has destroyed Gerbino’s reputation so badly that he doesn’t even get a chance to get tested. [superintendent] Given your position, why are you starting such a rumor?
Now let's take a look at what was approved at the last meeting.
- The district's website lists Athletic Director Troy Bowers' resignation, although it is not included in a copy of the agenda provided for last month's actual meeting. He's still in high school, but tonight he's on the agenda to become the Irvington School Board's new interim athletic director.

When did the Asbury Park Board of Education accept his resignation? Don’t you have to give 60 days advance notice? Has the Chancellor given up on this?
- Salaries for Building and Grounds Superintendent (Walter Sosa) and Assistant Building and Grounds Superintendent (Tron Goldfarb) will be increased. However, there is not enough money for students in the district to go on field trips or for seniors to participate in senior activities!!
- Walter Sosa, building and grounds supervisor, will increase his salary from $133,950 to $148,950 from Dec. 20, 2023, to June 30, 2024, to cover security manager responsibilities.
- Tron Goldfarb, assistant building and grounds inspector, will have his salary increased from $106,043 to $111,043 from Dec. 20, 2023, to June 30, 2024, to handle the additional responsibilities.
It costs $20,000 to do both tasks at the same time. You're kidding, right? But we have no money!!! Approved. BOE and status monitor Then nothing will change! You can't get toilet paper for the nurse's office, but you have an extra $20,000?
And isn't doing two jobs in the same workday double-dipping? Why is this okay?
Adding LaShawn Gibson's $16,000 raise brings the total to $36,000 paid to central office employees. This money could have been used to hire teachers this district desperately needs!!!
How can the new state monitor approve this money when our children cannot read?
Hey, you idiots! you just four schools In this area, taxpayers pay $250,000 a year to rent space for a central office, even though there are empty buildings!
- Bridget O'Neill, Principal/High School, will be appointed to oversee the Physical Education/Physical Education/Health Department in addition to her current duties as Principal/High School from February 6, 2024 to June 30, 2024.
For the past two years, O'Neill has been responsible for students who are ineligible to participate in athletics. This year she had a soccer player and a soccer player who were both ineligible. However, the ineligible student who played soccer participated in several games.
- Academic Bridge/45-day program and Mark Gerbino transfers to high school.
why? Just send him back as athletic director!
I feel sorry for the teachers who have to teach in this madness. As Richard A Rowland said, “The lunatics have taken over the asylum.”
