Welcome to the world of hand-drawn imaginary insects inspired by the enchanting world of “Spirited Away.” Artist and illustrator Richard Wilkinson, known as “Arthropoda Iconicus,” creates and animates insects inspired by various elements of popular culture.
Arthropoda Iconicus is an extensive collection of artwork in which Wilkinson depicts fictional insects and sometimes other arthropods that subtly resemble iconic specimens from popular culture. This may include characters from movies or TV shows, vehicles, buildings, shoes, bags, etc.
In his latest collection, Wilkinson pays homage to Studio Ghibli's masterpiece “Spirited Away.” Each installment in the series reflects the essence and spirit of the beloved film, a tribute to the magical and whimsical world created by Hayao Miyazaki. Explore the fascinating intersection of entomology and pop culture and bring insects to life that celebrate the creativity and imagination of “Spirited Away.”
