It's been five years since Apple TV+ was announced. Although its content library isn't as extensive as its competitors, Apple TV+ movies and shows have won several awards since then. Interestingly, Self Financial's research found that Apple TV+ is the streaming platform with the highest content rating on IMDb.
Apple TV+ content has the highest ratings among all streaming platforms.
Self Financial's research analyzed IMDb ratings for content available on major streaming platforms in the U.S., including Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Peacock, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Apple TV+.
In terms of having a huge content library, Amazon Prime Video currently leads the category with 13,827 rated movies and shows. This is more than double that of second place Netflix. Apple TV+, on the other hand, is the streaming service with the smallest catalog, offering only 271 titles.
But despite having the smallest catalog, Apple's streaming platform has the highest average rating for its content, at least according to IMDb. Apple TV+ has an average score of 7.01 out of 10. Not surprisingly, the study found that the Emmy Award-winning series Ted Lasso was one of the highest-rated shows.
The study also looked at many other aspects of streaming platforms, such as which streaming platform is best for kids, Apple TV+ despite its limited catalog. Another interesting fact is that despite Apple's efforts to bring sports content to its platform, Netflix still has the highest-rated sports and technology shows and movies.
Be sure to check out the full study, which highlights average IMDb ratings by genre and shows that people spend an average of $52.97 per month on streaming services in the United States.
