The author of the article describes himself as “an Asbury Park community member hoping to improve the area.” He wants to remain anonymous. Opinions are his own..
A leaked letter from a coalition of administrators and supervisors to the Asbury Park Board of Education saying the district has “reached crisis point” was actually written by Thurgood Marshall Elementary School principal Lauren, senior officials have heard. Schultz. Schulze has been bad-mouthing other administrators in the district to people in the community, including board members. She continued to attack Mark Gerbino, who was her staff's first choice for superintendent nearly three years ago.
Here's the backstory:
Schultze is fighting back against Gerbino after hearing that he had to mediate a very uncomfortable situation between Schultze and another employee she was harassing. Gerbino was unlucky, as “certain forces” in charge sided with Schultze. I felt so bad for her other staff member that she was forced to leave due to the hostility she was enduring. But more on this soon.
Why would Schultze try to tarnish Gerbino's reputation? Because she is trying to get behind her back and help her get into a better position. To do that, she must remove Gerbino from the list of potential successors to her outgoing Superintendent Rashawn Adams. Instead, Schultze chose Martin Luther King Jr. Perry Medina, the middle school's principal, wants to take the interim superintendent position! Director of Student Services Kristie Howard was the committee's first choice, but now she too has been removed from her list. We're told she was the one who leaked the administrator's letter shortly before her suspension from the district. If Howard decides to suspend Adams while he is “out of the way,” he will need a replacement the board can agree to. Schultz is helping Medina because who else but Howard would want a temp job?
We also hear that Schultze is so delusional that he thinks he will be promoted to central office if Medina takes charge. Adams and Medina did not get along and he wrote Medina off for ridiculous reasons to show that he was in charge. Should you consider Medina? This person can't even run a middle school, so why does he think he can run a district? Oh wait, Adams couldn't run the middle school either and I couldn't see where he was! déjà vu All over again.
So how did Schultz get to her position in Asbury Park? Let's take a look. As Thurgood Marshall's teacher, he starts by kissing her ass and stabbing her in the back. She created a documented hostile work environment for her fellow teacher, the daughter of a highly visible elected official, which resulted in the teacher leaving the district. I was so sad that I asked the teachers' union for help. At that time, Schulze told people, “No one will tear me down, including Gerbino, who was the owner of the building at the time.” All Gerbino wanted was to get people to work together professionally.
What happened to Schultze? It's not a fucking thing! While she was supposed to teach the children at Asbury, she was constantly seen typing on her laptop in the classroom, doing nothing for the students. Teachers will comment on it, but nothing will happen. [former superintendent] Sancha Gray needed her to write her doctoral thesis! Yes, that's right!
Speaking of Gray's doctorate, the district paid for it and was never reimbursed, even though she left a few months later. Schultze also did her own graduate work during her student contact hours. Her teachers told her that she wasn't doing anything with her kids and that she was just typing on her laptop. So what happens when she types up a paper for her boss? You become a supervisor. 2 years of teaching experience!!! Yes, that's right. 2 years or teaching experience! But can we call it an experience even when we do nothing in the classroom? Job postings and hiring requirements have changed and POOF! She became a principal without even the minimum qualifications!
We're told she has no problem protecting her ass, and that includes contacting school board members. I hope they don't listen to her, but based on the way they're treating Gerbino, they definitely will. Because he's probably the only one who can fix this place. She's just trying to ruin other administrators in the area. This is a problem!
What a sad way to be an employee when all you think about is yourself and moving up the ladder. This madness needs to stop and the board needs to look at who is qualified to fix this district right now.
