Lyonne, who serves as a writer and executive producer on the show, previously directed the season one episode “Orpheus Syndrome,” which starred Nick Nolte, Luis Guzman and Cherry Jones. She also received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for Best Actress.

“We want to keep doing it, and I think it’s built to be an overarching story, but it’s more like a story about whether Sam will make it home in Quantum Leap,” he explained. “It doesn’t really matter. It’s just an engine that keeps her on the road, keeps her moving, keeps these little mysteries going, and keeps interesting people involved. Our goal is to keep it going for as long as possible.”
