CHICAGO (TCN) — Police are investigating the disappearance of a 41-year-old woman who reportedly went missing while attending a yoga retreat in the Bahamas.
In a June 21 press release, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said Taylor Casey was last seen in the Paradise Island area on Wednesday, June 19. According to his family, Casey has been practicing yoga for 15 years and has been in the Bahamas for the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat.
“We are deeply concerned about Taylor’s safety and well-being,” Casey’s mother said in a statement. “We believe Taylor is at risk because she wants to return and share her experience of practicing yoga with others.” said.
Retreat organizers told CBS News that Casey was reported missing to the U.S. Embassy and her family on June 20 after she failed to attend a morning yoga class.
Casey went missing after the U.S. State Department issued a Level 2 travel advisory for the Bahamas due to crime. In particular, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport urged travelers to be especially careful, saying, “Violent crimes such as robbery, armed robbery, and sexual assault are occurring in both tourist and non-tourist areas.”
Family members said a group of people, including Casey's mother, were traveling to Paradise Island to work with local authorities to find Casey.
Casey is a black female, 5'10″ tall, 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
