Vail is known for its splendor, especially during ski season. And I have to admit, I was a little scared about what to pack for our summer trip to Vail. But we've discovered that the summer season is all about enjoying the great outdoors, enjoying a laid-back mountain lifestyle, and taking in the beautiful scenery. It is the perfect destination for adventurers, foodies and anyone who wants to escape the heat and hustle of the city.
Since we planned to hike during the day and enjoy a delicious meal in Vail Village at night, packing was a little tricky. Additionally, temperatures during the day and night in Vail during summer can vary greatly, so it's important to pack clothes that will cover multiple seasons.
Here's a list of things to pack for summer in Vail, along with some tips to help you think about what you want to wear.
clothes
Summers in Vail can be warm during the day but cool in the evening, so think about layering. Temperatures typically range from the high 70s to low 80s F (about 21-28°C) during the day. And once the sun sets, temperatures can drop significantly, even in summer. It is not uncommon for evenings to dip into the 40s to 50s F (about 4 to 15°C). Also, many restaurants and stores don't have air conditioning, so keep that in mind even on warm days. You'll want to pack clothes for day and night.
- Light layer: Think sweatshirts, t-shirts, tank tops, and shorts for day hikes and outdoor activities. It's a casual and elegant piece that can be layered for a night out. Sundress with jacket, long pants and short-sleeved colored shirt. And light pants. Don't forget a couple of long-sleeved shirts or a light sweater for cooler nights.
- swimsuit: Although Vail is in the mountains, it has cool lakes and swimming spots. Bring your swimsuit for a refreshing dip.
- jacket: Jacket in summer? yes! Consider the activities you have planned. In the mountains, summer showers can surprise you, so it's a good idea to pack a light, compact raincoat. We also recommend a denim jacket or similar clothing for cool evenings. And if you plan on hiking early in the morning, wear a pullover sweatshirt.
- Close person: Of course, bring hiking socks, underwear, and pajamas as well. It's easy to get itchy when you wear wool socks in the summer. So I really like Wrightsocks for hiking because they are comfortable and help prevent blisters.

- Water bottle: Staying hydrated is important at high altitudes, so carry a reusable water bottle.
- Daypack: A small backpack is convenient for carrying essentials while exploring. I like to take a backpack with me when I hike so I can carry water bottles and snacks. However, you may also want something lightweight like a belt bag. Still my favorite backpack Fjällräven Backpack This is because you can pack it flat in your suitcase or carry-on.
- First aid kit: Bring a first aid kit with band-aids and other items. blister bandage Long hikes and painkillers.
extra
- Hand fan: I don't travel anywhere in the summer without a trip. simple hand fan. You can easily fold it and put it in your pocket or purse. Living in Florida, I've learned that having these little necessities can make life a lot more comfortable. This is especially true in restaurants and stores without air conditioning.
- Skin care: The alpine air is very dry and your skin can feel it. I had a great hair day, but my lips were chapped. In addition to your typical skin care products, also pack sunscreen with a good SPF, moisturizer, and hydrating lip balm. My favorite SPF moisturizer from my years of traveling is: Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 42 With hyaluronic acid.
Electronic products
