Kate Middleton has broken her silence after failing to attend the Trooping the Color event amid her cancer battle.
In a letter to the Irish Guards, she said: “Ahead of the colonel's review and deployment of colored troops, I wanted to write to let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment.”
“We are grateful to each and every member of this year’s unit for practicing for months and dedicating many hours to keep their uniforms and drills perfect.”
She continued: “It is still a great honor to be your colonel and I am very sorry that I will not be able to salute you at the colonel inspection this year. Please convey your apology to the entire regiment. But I hope to represent you all again soon.”
A few days ago Hello! The magazine reported that while attending the 80th anniversary of D-Day Landings, a veteran asked William if Kate was “getting better.”
He responded, “She would have wanted to be here.”

Meanwhile, an insider told Us Weekly: “Kate feels strong enough to be deeply involved with her children. “She was an active parent.”
A second source said: “Kate’s recovery is going well. “She is prone to illness and doesn’t want her people to compromise her, so she doesn’t see many people, but she is awake.”
The insider explained that Kate's team is “re-evaluating what she can take on when she returns” and that “she may never return to the role that people have seen her play before.”
She is currently busy looking after her children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, at their summer home, Anmer Hall. Prince William is also taking a break from royal duties due to the surprise general election scheduled to be held on July 4th.
“The announcement that the royals will not be able to work as much is unexpected, but it will allow Kate and William to spend more time together,” the source said. They reconnected and became closer than ever.”
