Merritt Garland's DOJ plans to indict and bring to trial the son of a sitting president. Such actions would never have occurred under Attorney General Bill Barr's corrupt and weaponized DOJ. Trump and the MAGA GOP were so concerned about being seen as biased weaponizers by manipulating Garland and Biden that their approach to combating the assault on democracy was weak. It is not enough to simply rant against dictatorship. It is not enough to convince Republican supporters of Trump that he is dangerous. It is not enough to increase the superiority of democracy over autocracy. That message doesn't work because Trump is a gifted gaslighter and Putin-trained propagandist. Plus, millions of Americans are too lazy to know the facts and are more loyal to their party than their country.
Trump and the sworn Republicans have broken every norm of government and democracy and made illegal and anti-democratic behavior the new standard. Democrats now have to follow the same rules as MAGA if they want to beat the Republican/Russian movement trying to destroy our democracy.
- We must organize and fund protests by the Biden administration against biased and extremist Supreme Court justices. Public support for its removal should be encouraged.
- Attorney General Garland should appear in the media every day to keep the American people informed of the latest actions or statements by Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, other MAGA lawmakers, or other anti-democracy public figures.
- President Biden must maximize the use of executive orders to avoid obstruction by the House of Representatives.
- President Biden is replicating Trump's style of engagement with the Justice Department and calling out Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and Don Jr. for potential wrongdoing by Merritt Garland. and order that an investigation into Eric Trump be announced and pursued.
- President Biden should have an administration spokesperson who will publicly admonish any judges who are delaying Trump's trial proceedings.
- President Biden should pressure all appellate courts to immediately rule on cases involving Donald Trump.
