Perhaps the real culprit, a 29-year-old woman, should have lived alone instead of with her mother. If she did, there's a chance her 61-year-old mother would still be alive.
The daughter appears to have mental health issues or entitlement issues.
Prior to the fateful incident with her mother, she had several criminal incidents including robbery, home invasion, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, sale of a controlled substance, and gaming violations. There was nothing that could have escalated her to her murder.
In the early morning hours, the daughter called 9-1-1 to notify her mother that she needed medical help. The dispatcher asked general questions about the response team's location and asked the caller for details about what happened. The daughter’s response to her incident was “I think I killed my mom.”
The daughter also confessed to security that she smashed a glass table over her mother's head and then slit her throat with a shard of glass.
When authorities arrived at the home, they found the mother dead and a crime scene that appeared to be an argument. Her daughter ran away. Authorities in another state arrested her about 2 1/2 hours from her mother's home, where they reported that she was still covered in her blood.
A neighbor said police were often called to the mother's home to resolve domestic disputes between her and her daughter.
KLAS-TV reported that a fight between mother and daughter over a cigarette turned into murder. Her initial plea to the second-degree murder charge was guilty, but she was mentally ill.
She has been in prison awaiting sentencing for over a year. Her judge sentenced her to 15 years to life in prison. Her judge also ordered her to receive treatment for her mental illness.
