The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported:
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis ousted Christian Wise Smith in the Democratic primary as she prepares for a November primary against Republican Courtney Kramer. Meanwhile, Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee easily completed his term.
Willis' victory over Wise Smith was never in doubt. But she had hoped to score against Wisesmith to put herself in a strong position in November, when Trump's allies are likely to rally around Cramer. Still, Willis is heavily favored to maintain her own seat in her Democratic stronghold.
Her allies say the landslide victory could give them approval for the way she runs the office and her strategy for pushing forward with a closely watched Trump trial that could be delayed until 2025 as appeals courts consider the challenge. I'm hoping.
Willis mentioned Maddow's appearance in his victory speech.

There's no doubt that Willis, who doesn't appear much in the national media, benefited from sitting down with Rachel Maddow to talk about his accomplishments as a DA and the fact that Republicans in the Georgia Legislature have never thought there was a need for oversight of local DAs. . Until 14 African American DAs were elected.
DA Willis is expected to easily retain his position in deep blue Fulton County in November. Her supporters in Willis wanted to send a message about her winning big on primary day, and she accomplished that mission, as her interview served as a reminder of Rachel Maddow's power to reach Democratic voters. .
