Suffolk County, NY (TCD) — Four people have been formally charged with stabbing a couple to death in February.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office made the announcement. On April 29, Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves, Steven Brown, and Amanda Wallace were charged with multiple crimes, including hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing a corpse.
Mackey, 36, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery in the deaths of 53-year-old Malcolm “Craig” Brown (no relation to Stephen Brown) and 59-year-old Donna. Conneally. Nieves faces charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Stephen Brown, 44, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree robbery, and Wallace, 40, was charged with first-degree robbery.
On Feb. 27, Connealy and Malcolm “Craig” Brown went to a home on Railroad Avenue in Amityville where they were “violently stabbed,” according to the statement. Brown was stabbed once in the neck and once in the torso. Conneally reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck and back.
The District Attorney's Office alleges that Mackey, Nieves and Steven Brown planned to kill the couple in advance. They reportedly stabbed the body, cut it into pieces in the bathroom, and then dumped the body in two parks and a third forest area.
WPIX-TV Report On February 29, a girl walking to school discovered an amputated arm without fingertips near Southards Pond Park in Babylon. Investigators also reportedly found another arm nearby that appeared to be male.
The prosecutor's office said the woman's head, torso, arms and legs were located on the other side of the park.
Police went to the Amityville home where the four suspects were staying and found “several cutting tools, including a large folding knife, a large kitchen knife, and two kitchen knives.” They also found blood evidence in several places around the home.
All four were arrested March 4 on charges of hindering prosecution, concealing a corpse and tampering with evidence, and were released on bail due to ineligibility, according to the statement. Wallace was arrested again on March 14 for shoplifting from a local CVS.
It was reported that Connealy, Brown, and the four suspects were 'acquaintances.'
