An environmental activist from Ghana, West Africa, recently set a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the feat of being unable to hug most trees in one hour.
Abubakar Tahiru, 29, rushed through Alabama's Tuskegee National Forest, hugging 1,123 trees. new york post It has been reported.
This means that a Ghanaian native hugs an average of 19 trees per minute.
“It is important to me to inspire young people in Ghana, especially those from less privileged communities like where I grew up, to show them that they can overcome challenges and make a significant impact,” Tahiru said.
Tahiru, who is earning a master's degree in forestry from Auburn University, had to wrap both arms around a tree to set the record.
Additionally, he was not allowed to hug the same tree more than once or cause damage to the saplings. Otherwise, they were disqualified.
Tahiru, who was fasting during Ramadan during the challenge, said: “Not being able to drink water throughout the attempt presented quite a challenge, especially considering the physical effort required.
“But this has proven to be helpful in some ways in that you don’t have to stop for water breaks, so you can continue your attempt from start to finish without stopping.”
He broke the previous record of hugging 700 trees.
“Achieving this world record is incredibly rewarding,” he said, adding that he took on the challenge to raise awareness about the importance of the environment.
