KARACHI: All banks and financial institutions will observe Eid ul Fitr holiday from April 10 to 12, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Thursday.
“The central bank will be closed from April 10 to 12, 2024 (Wednesday to Friday) in observance of public holidays commemorating Eid ul Fitr,” SBP said in a statement.
Afterwards, all banks, microfinance banks and other financial institutions will also observe the Eid holiday during this period.
This morning, the federal government announced the Eid holiday. According to a notice issued by the Cabinet Office, organizations that work five days a week will have three public holidays from April 10 to 12, and organizations that work six days a week will have four public holidays from April 10 to 13.
“The Prime Minister is pleased to approve a public holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr,” said the notification, signed by Press Information Department (PID) Chief Information Officer Muhammad Aqib Gulzar. It is written.
The Meteorological Department on Monday predicted that the first day of Eid ul Fitr would be on April 10 as the month of Shawwal is expected to be observed on April 9.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the crescent moon will form at 11:21 pm on April 8 and will age for 19 to 20 hours around Maghrib prayers the next day.
He said the crescent moon could be spotted for more than 50 minutes around sunset.
PMD said skies will be clear in most parts of the country on April 9. However, he added that skies may be cloudy in northern areas.
