Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Redmond, Washington — April April 4, 2024 — Cloud Software Group Inc. and Microsoft Corp. today announced they are deepening their collaboration through an eight-year strategic partnership agreement. This agreement will strengthen go-to-market collaboration for Citrix® virtual applications and desktop platforms and support the development of new cloud and AI solutions through an integrated product roadmap. The cloud software group also plans to invest $1.65 billion in Microsoft's cloud and generative AI capabilities.
This agreement will enable one of the industry's most sustainable alliances between Microsoft and Citrix, a business unit of the Cloud Software Group. Under the partnership, Citrix is the preferred Microsoft global Azure Partner solution for enterprise desktops as a service when working with joint Azure customers. Together, we will help customers succeed and provide customized solutions, expert guidance and support to accelerate their cloud journey. Citrix will also leverage Microsoft Azure as its preferred cloud solution, providing Citrix customers with the comprehensive benefits of the Citrix platform, complemented by Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365. Additionally, this collaboration will create a deeper path to modern procurement options through Azure Marketplace. This is where customers can easily evaluate, expand, or renew their Citrix solutions.
“As organizations adopt flexible work models, the need to provide employees with secure and innovative solutions to increase productivity has become essential,” said Sridhar Mullapudi, general manager at Citrix. “The partnership between Citrix and Microsoft is the epitome of a ‘Better Together’ relationship, combining the strengths of both companies to deliver unmatched value and innovation to our customers.”
“The simplification of our new Universal and Cloud Platform licensing, which unifies all capabilities, including NetScaler, will make it much easier for our customers to use and deploy our joint solutions with Microsoft,” said Hector Lima, Chief Revenue Officer at Citrix. .
The agreement will also accelerate AI productivity and new innovations. Cloud Software Group's engineering organization is deploying GitHub Copilot to all engineers with the goal of increasing developer productivity by more than 20%, accelerating the pace of R&D across the organization. Additionally, Spotfire, a division of the Cloud Software Group, recently announced the new Spotfire Copilot™ extension built on the Microsoft Azure OpenAI service. Copilot assistants are built directly into Spotfire to help customers do more with their data, faster.
To increase collaboration and productivity, Cloud Software Group will transition all employees to Microsoft 365. This enables field teams to support new joint go-to-market activities with best-in-class productivity and AI tools.
“Our strategic partnership with Cloud Software Group is built on a shared vision for customer success through adoption of cloud and AI technologies. Together, we will enhance the customer experience through integrated solutions and go-to-market support for Citrix business units,” said Judson Althoff, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Microsoft. “By leveraging Microsoft 365 as our collaboration platform and Microsoft Azure as our preferred cloud solution, Citrix is well-positioned to deliver innovative solutions at scale to our mutual customers.”
“We are excited to see the expanded partnership between Microsoft and Citrix and how it will help advance our transformation journey,” said Wasif Jamal, Chief Technology Officer at Providence.
