Donald Trump would beat Michelle Obama in a hypothetical 2024 presidential contest if he decides to run for president later this year, according to a new poll.
If Trump runs, he will defeat Obama.
A Daily Mail poll of 1,000 voters found Obama would lose to Trump by three points in a hypothetical matchup. That's the same margin that President Joe Biden lost to Trump, according to opinion polls.
“Some have been touting the Michelle Obama draft as an emergency parachute for Biden for some time,” said pollster James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners. “But it turns out that voters don't like voting for Michelle over Trump any more than they like voting for Biden. Trump beat her overall and even with her independents.”
“It was never realistic, but these polls support the idea that she could be a saving force for the Democratic Party,” he added.
Obama refuses to run for president
Democrats have long believed that Obama will criticize anyone who decides to run for president. Many on the left had been hoping she would run for president this year amid concerns about Biden's age and her reelection prospects, but Obama has always said he has no plans to run.
'As former first lady Michelle Obama has stated several times over the years, she will not be running for president,' Crystal Carson, communications director for the former first lady's office, told NBC News last month. “Madam. Obama supports the re-election campaigns of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris,” she said.

But Obama has publicly expressed his fears about this year's election.
“What will happen in this election? “I am afraid of what will happen because our leaders matter,” she said in January. “Who we choose, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit affects us in ways that people take for granted.”
“What does the fact that people think about government actually play a role? And I thought, 'Oh my God, is the government doing everything for us?' And we cannot take this democracy for granted. And sometimes I worry that we are doing just that,” she continued. “Those are the things that tire me out.”
Last year, Obama told Oprah Winfrey, “Politics is difficult.”
“You have to want it,” she said, according to The Washington Examiner. “It has to be in your soul because it is so important. It’s not in my soul.”
In 2019, Obama said there was “zero” chance he would run for president.
“There are so many ways to improve this country and create a better world. I continue to do so much, from working with young people to helping families live healthier lives,” she said. “But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. “It just doesn’t suit me.”
In 2022, Obama said he 'hated' being asked whether he would run for president.

But given how big Obama's ego is, this poll is likely to come as devastating news for her. In the end, she may not be as popular as she and her fellow Democrats think. So it's no surprise that Trump would take her down if she decided to run for president!
