Best Winter Hair Care Tips for the Coming Cold Season
As temperatures drop and we become more reliant on indoor heating, not only our skin but also our hair reacts to the change. As we enter the colder months, it takes a toll on your hair. Lack of moisture in the air causes hair to become dry, dull, and lifeless.
What can you do? First, you need to figure out what your hair specifically needs. Do you need light? Is your hair in need of repair? Does your hair need hydration?
Depending on these factors, there are several steps we can take to help compensate for the effects of cold temperatures and a crisp, cold environment on our hair and scalp. With the help of your Neroli hair designer, we can figure out the best option for you and your hair. We're sharing three treatments that will benefit your hair this winter. Buckle up! You'll be in touch with science in no time!
Full Spectrum Demi+ Gloss
Aveda's semi-permanent (partially permanent) hair color line is 93% natural and ammonia-free. It has a variety of uses and benefits, including gray blending, toning, pre-pigmenting, rebalancing and polishing. Glossing is a fantastic way to revitalize your hair by adding dazzling shine and shaping color.
Here's how it works:
- Uses sunflower oil, jojoba oil, cucuille oil, and castor oil to condition and add shine.
- Contains a broad color spectrum created by green tea extract, helping to enhance various shades.
- The use of plant-derived L-arginine maximizes color development and helps prevent color fading depending on the tone.

Botanical Repair Treatment
The Botanical Repair line is Aveda's newest hair care line designed to strengthen and repair hair from within using the power of plants. This is different from typical repair shampoos and conditioners that only add proteins that your hair is lacking. This 94% naturally derived product targets the three main areas of the hair – the F layer, cuticle and cortex – to help soften hair, detangle and prevent breakage.
F floor
- A plant-based complex using corn and coconut to protect hair.
- It mimics the benefits of the hair's natural F layer, protecting hair from moisture and water that can weaken and weaken hair.
epidermis
- A nutrient-dense macro green blend of avocado, green tea extract, and sacha inchi seed oil.
- It acts to soften cuticles and loosen tangles.
cortex
- It is a plant-based binding propagation molecule that uses corn-derived sugars.
- Creates hydrogen bonds in the cortex that strengthen and repair the hair from within.
Botanical Repair treatment can be performed in several ways. It can be used on its own as a conditioning treatment, added to color to enhance its color progression, or used as a hair mask at home or in the salon. Each of these options can help repair damaged and brittle hair.
Because everyone's scalp and hair are different, it is generally recommended to wait at least two days between washes. Most scalps should be oily by the time you shampoo them. Just because your scalp and hair are oily doesn't mean they're dirty.

Nutriplenish Hydrating Treatment
Aveda Nutriplenish line is also 94% natural. Infused with superfoods, this line helps provide sustained hydration to hair for 72 hours, replenishes the texture of all hair types and dry or depleted hair, is color safe, and free of silicones and sulfates.
1. NutriPlenish Shampoo, Conditioner, Multipurpose Hair Oil:
A superfood complex of pomegranate seed oil, mango butter, and organic coconut oil.
2. Nutriplenish Leave-In Conditioner:
A superfood complex of pomegranate seed oil and sand ginger.

Hydration VS. Moisturizing
- If your hair lacks moisture, it can become brittle and break easily. Moisturizing is the process of using emollients, butters, and/or oils to create a barrier that helps seal in moisture.
- Helps hair retain moisture.
- Its main function is to seal and soften the hair cuticle.
Fun facts: Hair usually needs both!
