KOKOMO, Industrial (TCD) — A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 44-year-old woman who went missing last month.
Family members reported Brandy Bradley missing on Feb. 11 after she was last seen in the 800 block of North Jay Street in mid-January, according to a press release from the Kokomo Police Department. In an updated post, police said they received information about the incident and searched the remote location.
WXIN-TV reported that before his disappearance, Bradley wrote on social media, “If I was dead and my mutilated body was found all over Kokomo, it would be John Christie.”
According to news sources, Bradley and another woman lived at Jonathan Christie's home.
Some of Bradley's friends reportedly told police that Christie abused the victim and even strangled her. According to WXIN, between Dec. 30 and Jan. 19, 2023, police responded to Christie's home five times.
After Bradley went missing, Christie reportedly spray-painted his vehicle and asked people to “burn the pile” to dispose of some of the items.
WXIN reported Christy told officers he worked at a construction site and needed to find a place to dispose of debris from various jobs.
Court documents reviewed by WXIN say officers searched a dumpster where Christie allegedly dumped debris at the work site. Investigators reportedly found ash, molten remains and what they suspected to be human bones in the trash can. However, the remains were not clearly confirmed as being victims.
The police reportedly searched another location on February 14 and found a small red stain believed to be blood. According to WXIN, investigators responded to Division Road in Kempton, Indiana, and found “clear signs” of a fire in a dumpster. Police reportedly found burnt necklaces, tarp remains, belts, melted remains, and remains suspected to be human finger bones inside the bin.
On February 15, the doctor examined the bones and found that they were arm bones, ribs, and finger bones. Additional testing will be performed.
An individual contacted police on February 26 and said Christie had asked them to help with a job in January. The individual allegedly went home for work and observed Bradley's body with a bag over his head and a belt around his neck. The man told Christie that Bradley damaged her own home and attacked her with a wrench.
The man reportedly helped Christie move Bradley's body to a home on Division Road, which had a large bin outside. According to WXIN, Christie reportedly told the man he “should burn” and then he set Bradley's body on fire.
Police arrested Christie on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, February 27, several weeks after Bradley went missing.
