Keep your next camping trip clean with body cleansing wipes
After spending a few days in the backcountry, even the most comfortable people in the wilderness start to feel a little less refreshed. Sunshine and hard work mean we're often covered in sweat and grime. A dip in the river can be invigorating, but it's not always great in terms of smell. There's nothing like taking a quick “Ozzy bath” with some wet wipes that will make you feel like a whole new person.
A few things to consider if you're packing bath wipes to stay clean on your next river trip or outdoor adventure:
- One or two wet wipes per day should be sufficient. This way, you can wash your face, armpits, and swimsuit area (in that order) every morning or evening. Some people choose to count the number of wipes they need and bring them in a zip-top bag instead of packing them in a bulky package.
- You'll need to pack everything you pack, so make sure you have a way to transport your used wipes, whether it's an extra bag or your group's trash disposal. Considering biodegradable body wipes that don't require additional packaging (i.e. avoiding individually wrapped wipes) will reduce the amount of waste you have to pack.
- If you have sensitive skin, test your choice of wipes at home before heading a few miles down the nearest road. Make sure the fragrance and additives in the wet wipes do not cause irritation.
As refreshing as a quick facial scrub can be, not all body wipes are created equal. These products stand out among the rest.
Our Favorite Bath Wipes for River Trips
Sea to Summit Wilderness Wipes
Sea to Summit's extra-thick wipes are more like warm spa towels than regular baby wipes. You'll feel just as comfortable after a hot few days on the river. The wipes come in resealable packs of 12 and 36 and contain aloe vera to feel great on sun or wind-burnt skin. It's also unscented and biodegradable, so you can compost it when you're out on the river.
venture wet wipes
When it gets really dirty, standard-sized body wipes aren't always enough to get the job done. At 12 inches by 12 inches (more than three times the size of your average baby wipe), Venture Wipes are one of the largest on the market. Even though they're individually packaged, you'll likely only need one per day, which offsets the extra waste factor. Venture Wipes contain aloe, vitamin E, and tea tree oil to help get rid of punctures. For buggy travel, we also provide “Bug Defense” with citronella.
