As our country ages and grows, many groups and individuals believe that various provisions of the U.S. Constitution should be changed. Some people want small changes, while others want big, sweeping reforms. The drafters of the Constitution anticipated that there would be amendments when they drafted the Constitution, and provided that these amendments would be made through proposals initiated in Congress or passed through state legislatures.
