The authors worked with 15 organizations and more than 7,000 employees to experiment with ways to increase internal career development opportunities and prove that promotion is not the only way people can advance. They found that when an organization supports advancement methods beyond promotion, it facilitates the flow of talent, skills, and strengths. Employees have opportunities to grow and develop in a variety of directions and increase career resilience. In short, everyone wins.
