These are my 24 goals for 2024.
I am List-making, goal-oriented person For most of my life. but global epidemic of infectious diseasesmy time live in hospitaland I lost both my cats.I wonder what the point of setting arbitrary goals is. What was the point? nothing?
I spent most of my time in bed or on my Animal Crossing island because I didn't want to face reality. There were too many.
I haven't posted my goals in three years, but I came back this year feeling a little better. Like my old self again With the help of my new coffee obsession and deeper friendships. But I'm still learning, If I don't get things done, I'm not human.. It's okay to not be productive. We all have different seasons in our lives. But this year, I'm ready to give myself something. push gently To do more.

24 goals for 2024
I don’t regret taking a few years off. I'm glad we broke up western capitalist mindsetThis is where everything becomes productive. pain? Turn it into productivity, do! Because society tells us that throwing ourselves at work is much more acceptable than a depressive episode.
I'm sharing that goal again because I've gotten more done through public accountability. However, this year we have done more work than last year, but it is not 100% complete. When I focus too much on goals, I lose sight of important things like spending time with people (our cats are people too).
word of the year
My promise for 2020 was creativity. This year I mean reinvention.
I focused too much on my age and constantly told myself that my climbing was going downhill, but I didn't give myself enough credit for being able to climb again after damaging my heel after a hard fall. This year, I'm going to carve my own path, discover new hobbies, and fuck ageism. You don't have to believe that what society tells you is age appropriate. I've always been non-traditional anyway.
Last year's summary
I'm also learning this year, more than ever, that my memory is unreliable. My brain thought we'd spent most of the year playing pickleball at home, but video of one second a day from 2023 tells a different story. Did you know that our brains create false memories to construct complete storylines in both long-term and short-term memory? How many lies have I told myself?
Here are the highlights and lows of the year:
- We went on a safari in Kruger National Park.
- We visited a well in Eswatini that we built through the Thirst Project.
- Climbed at Moe's, Hueco Tanks, Joshua Tree, Bishop, Leavy and mostly Red Rock (house rock).
- We visited two new national parks: the Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns.
- I learned how to make kombucha and espresso.
- Played pickleball for the first time.
- I said goodbye to Jay, Ash and Erin (I lost them to Hawaii).
- I got injured in Hueco and couldn't climb for a while.
Below are the combined goals (or Jacob's goals are shown in green).
