Two adults have been charged with murder a week after a shooting in Kansas City.
Dominic M. Miller and Lyndell Mays face charges of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, according to a news release from Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker. I am receiving it.
Officials said, “Court records show that the defendants attended the Super Bowl parade and rally on February 14th and were armed with firearms. An argument broke out and shots were fired, with no regard for the thousands of other people in the area. Both defendants are being held on $1 million bail.”
The charges come just days after it was revealed that two juveniles were taken into custody in connection with a shooting that left Lisa Lopez-Galvan dead and 22 others injured.
“Shortly after Wednesday’s shooting at Union Station, investigators determined that adult Dominic M. Miller and adult Lindell Mays were the two shooters,” Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said in another statement. .
“I am grateful that the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office charged Miller and Mays with murder and other felonies as a result of their reckless actions. The Prosecutor's Office has full confidence in its handling and prosecution of this case. Both Miller and Mays were shot in the incident and have been hospitalized since. These suspects are in addition to the two juveniles charged last week.”
“Our investigation continues at full speed,” Graves continued. Our detective team is working tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for the shooting are apprehended and receive the maximum punishment allowed by the law. Kansas City is a place we love at KCPD. “We will not hesitate in seeking justice.”
