DONALDSONVILLE, Ga. (TCD) — An 18-year-old beauty queen has been arrested on murder and other charges following the death of her 18-month-old child.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), on January 14, the Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department contacted the GBI requesting assistance in investigating the death of a child. Investigators learned the child was taken to Phoebe Sumter Hospital for medical assistance but later died.
GBI has not released what type of injuries the child suffered.
Investigators conducted interviews and announced the arrest of Trinity Poague on Jan. 20 on charges of aggravated battery, felonious assault, and child endangerment.
WTVY-TV reports that Poague is the most recent winner of the Miss Donalsonville pageant and also competed in the National Peanut Festival pageant.
It was not immediately clear what Poague's relationship was with the child.
