It's the most frustrating time of the year! But who said Halloween can't provide some romance for couples too? These 17 clever and creative Halloween date ideas will help you and your significant other celebrate the season in a special way.
Create your own spooky cocktail
Drink your favorite drink and try some cocktails. You can make delicious, classic cocktails if you want, but why not try something with a twist? There are so many ways to turn regular drinks into Halloween Eve drinks! Consider some fun recipes like these, or use them to inspire your own drinks. Cheers!
Solve the mystery together
Are you a true crime fanatic? join a club! Well, the perfect Halloween date night might involve a true crime… .or may contain fictional stories. Have you heard of the game Hunt a Killer? This subscription box is great for couples who get the thrill of solving crimes. You'll receive a ton of clues in a box each month, which you'll sort through as you get closer to solving the mystery. In fact, each mystery unfolds over six episodes, or a month, so this is a date you can plan every month!
Choosing/Making a Halloween Costume
What part of Halloween is better than costumes? In early October, two people can plan a special date, such as choosing and purchasing an outfit together or DIYing it themselves. We have tons of ideas for couple outfits for those who want to wear them as a pair or as a set!
Have a scary movie marathon
This is one of my favorite fall date ideas in general, but especially great for Halloween night or any day close to it.
My favorites are the classics: Shining: A scary but not overly cruel movie. But maybe I saw Is franchising more about speed? You do you, boo. Whatever you choose, pick a few and cuddle up together under a warm blanket.
Enjoy some Halloween treats while you watch. Who says Halloween candy is just for kids? If you're not a candy fan, consider baking and decorating seasonal cookies together.
Visit haunted places
If you want to truly immerse yourself in the spooky atmosphere, go straight to the source. This is the place in your town that is rumored to be haunted. It's not hard to find with a simple Google search! An old mental hospital, an eerie graveyard, an abandoned house, and spooky ruins in the woods. Go and have the best time! Perhaps you will have a ghostly experience that you will share. Be an adult and remember to respect private property, etc.
Tell scary stories by the fire
Rather than actually visiting a haunted place, you want to talk about it? That's right, me too. We recommend a storytelling-focused date night for you and your significant other. Prepare your best ghost stories and legends (real or imagined) and tell them to each other under the lights.
If you don't have a story of your own, read some creepy stories out loud on the Internet. A good place to go is Reddit's subreddit r/nosleep. Or get lost in this thread about disappearances and strange encounters in the woods. you're welcome.
Carving a Jack-O-Lantern
Lastly, the most classic trick-or-treat date: pumpkin carving! Get some gourds, some sharp objects, some inspiration, and create some masterpieces. Personally, I love carving pumpkins and listening to a playlist of classic Halloween music. Monster Mash, anyone?
Take the Halloween Baking Challenge
Host a Halloween-themed baking competition in your kitchen. You and your partner can each make a spooky treat and try out the flavors. Make ghost cookies, mummy cupcakes, monster brownies, and more.
Take a ghost tour
Many cities offer ghost tours, especially during the Halloween season. Chances are your city will too! Join this spooky tour and explore local legends, haunted houses and spine-chilling stories. This is a great opportunity to experience some thrills with your loved ones.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Visit your local pumpkin patch to choose the perfect pumpkin to carve. This is a fun outdoor date where you can get some fresh air, pick pumpkins, and take cute photos.
Enjoy an escape room adventure
With the growing popularity of escape rooms in recent years, there is now an escape room in almost every city! These rooms often have spooky themes and puzzles to solve, making for an interesting and challenging date night. If possible, find a Halloween-themed escape room.
Luminous mini goalF
Look for local mini golf courses that offer glow-in-the-dark mini golf during the Halloween season. Playing under a blacklight with spooky decorations and glowing obstacles can make for a unique and fun date night.
outdoor movie night
Organize an outdoor movie screening in your backyard or local park. Choose a classic horror movie or a Halloween favorite, bring a blanket and some snacks, and enjoy a night under the stars.

Instead of a traditional Halloween date night, this activity will make your time even more fun! Host a costume swap party with your friends right before Halloween. This is a great way to recycle clothes and have fun trying different outfits, even when you're on a budget!
Halloween themed dinner at home
Cook a special Halloween themed dinner together. Create dishes with “creepy” names or create your own spooky charcuterie board. Or is it CharBOOterie?
pumpkin pictures
If pumpkin carving seems too messy or complicated, choose pumpkin painting. You can get creative with design and color without any clutter. Plus, uncarved gourds will last much longer. It will probably last until Halloween!
Haunted Corn Maze or Hay Ride
Many farms set up haunted corn mazes during the Halloween season. A fun and spooky adventure for couples who enjoy a little fear.
